Garry has always loved the outdoors and he pursued that passion with a 35-year career with the U.S. Forest Service. For most of his career, he was a District Ranger where he got to know the backcountry in beautiful places like the Wind River and Absaroka Mountains in Wyoming, the San Juan and Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and the wildlands of Western Montana. As you will notice from his accent, Garry is a native of New England where he grew up on a small lake and learned to appreciate the outdoors at a very early age. After attending junior college in the Adirondacks, he moved west in 1975 to attend the University of Montana where he earned degrees in Forest Management and Geology. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys doing almost anything outdoors, but especially loves to hike, ski and spend time on wild rivers. Our public lands are his passion; their management, stewardship and conservation. Every day is an adventure for him.
