Hailing from the enchanting wilderness of Marquette, Michigan, Mike has been immersed in nature since childhood. Surrounded by lush forests, the majestic Great Lakes, and an abundance of inland lakes and rivers, his love for the outdoors was inevitable. From exhilarating adrenaline sports to soul-stirring backpacking trips, Mike has always found solace and excitement in the wild.

Some of his fondest memories have been forged in iconic natural landscapes like Isle Royale National Park, the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness, Red Rock Conservation Area, and of course, Yellowstone National Park. Growing up under the tutelage of a foraging and mushroom expert, Mike’s father, he developed a deep understanding of wild plants and foraging practices.

Driven by a profound love for wildlife and a commitment to conservation, Mike has dedicated himself to educating others about these critical issues. As your guide, he’s not just here to lead you through the wonders of Yellowstone; he’s here to inspire and enlighten, fostering a deeper connection between people and nature.

When he’s not leading expeditions, you’ll likely find Mike carving fresh tracks in the backcountry with his skis or scaling rugged rock faces with his trusty climbing shoes. With certifications in Wilderness First Response, AIARE Avalanche Level 2, AIARE Avalanche Rescue, and PSIA Level 1, rest assured, your safety is his top priority.
